A good night's sleep at Erwain Escapes. Comfy Bed, luxury linens - Luxury Glamping Cabin, Carmarthenshire, West Wales

When Did a Good Night’s Sleep Become Such a Luxury?

When Did a Good Night’s Sleep Become Such a Luxury?

When was the last time you woke up feeling completely rested? Not pulled out of sleep by an alarm, a phone screen lighting up with notifications, or distant morning traffic, but simply because your body enjoyed a good night’s sleep.

Somewhere along the way, getting a good night’s sleep turned into something we feel we have to track, schedule or somehow manage. Why has it become something complicated, something we need to work out? It never used to be. Sometimes it’s simply about taking away some of the daily noise and giving yourself permission to stop.

The Luxury of a Good Night’s Sleep

Without Wi-Fi or a TV screen luring you into “just one more episode”, the evening here at Erwain Escapes is rather different. There’s no glare from standby lights in the corner, no phone vibrating beside you, no temptation to check one last email or scroll through another social media feed before bed.

Instead, the evening belongs entirely to you.

A warm soak in the outdoor bath beneath the stars, perhaps, while the woodburner warms the cabin. The gentle flicker of the fire, the crackle of the logs and, eventually, the simple pleasure of climbing into crisp Egyptian cotton sheets and settling into our handcrafted oak bed.

And underneath it all, a really good mattress, because however beautiful a bed might be, it’s what you’re lying on that really matters. To make it even cosier as the nights turn chilly, there’s nothing like climbing into bed with a hot-water bottle already warming your sheets

Simple comforts that make bedtime feel like something to look forward to.

Nature’s Own Nightcap

Out here in the meadow, darkness is actual darkness. There are no streetlights, just the night sky and stars above you.

The sounds change too. Instead of the low, constant hum of modern life, there’s the gentle flow of the river, the rustle of the trees and one of our resident owls calling nearby.

And then there is the quiet and stillness between them.

The kind of quiet you don’t often notice until you’ve spent a little time away from everything else.

Waking Up on Your Own Terms

Perhaps the best part of all is the morning.

Waking up in the meadow doesn’t start with a sudden jolt or a demanding alarm clock. It starts naturally as daylight begins to creep around the edges of the blackout blinds and the birds begin their morning chorus and visits to the feeder.

There’s no rush to leap out of bed, just time to let the kettle whistle, step out onto the deck with a morning cuppa and watch the mist lift from across the hill. You might simply sit and watch whatever has decided to visit the meadow that morning. You might wander down to the river. Or you might climb back into bed with a book.

There isn’t really a right way to do it.

Perhaps that’s part of the luxury too.

Where a Good Night’s Sleep Comes Naturally

Perhaps a good night’s sleep isn’t really a luxury after all. Perhaps it’s simply what happens when we give ourselves the time, space and surroundings to let the day come to an end properly.

And maybe that’s something worth remembering the next time you wake up wishing you could have another hour.

Set in the peaceful heart of Carmarthenshire, West Wales, Erwain Escapes was created for exactly that, giving you the time and space to do nothing at all.

Fancy a little more time to simply be?
