We welcomed a rather special group of visitors not long back — not guests this time, but a team of six assessors from Visit Wales.
We were told, visits normally involve just one or two assessors. Not on this occasion, as they chose our little hideaway as the meeting point for a wider Glamping Grading session.
They said it wouldn’t be more than a couple of hours. We didn’t quite expect an entire morning. As what followed, was nearly five hours of conversation, curiosity and connection as we shared the journey behind Erwain Escapes. Our quiet corner of Carmarthenshire that’s now been officially recognised in more ways than one.
A Gold Award Glamping Escape
We are officially a Visit Wales Quality Assured Glamping Site and proud recipients of the Gold Award—the highest accolade awarded under the scheme.
To receive a Quality Assured Award, sites must score over 80% and meet strict quality criteria. We achieved 98%—a score that hasn’t been handed out in a while, as the lead assessor kindly shared in their follow-up message.
“It’s been a while since I’ve awarded a Gold,” she wrote. “But after having seven assessors’ eyes on it, we all agreed—it was a real pleasure to visit, and your passion and creativity shone through.”
Welcome Awards for Walkers, Cyclists & Bikers Too
We were also awarded Visit Wales Welcome Awards for Walkers, Cyclists and Bikers—something we’re also very proud to have received, given our setting in the heart of Carmarthenshire.
Recognising that the cabin is not just a peaceful retreat, but a well-equipped base for outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers
This part of Wales is known for its varied landscape: from mountain trails and forest paths to quiet country lanes and coastal stretches. The region’s network of cycle and motorbiking routes and walking trails makes it a dream for outdoor explorers, whether you prefer a leisurely wander or something a little more off the beaten track.
