Carmarthenshire boasts a diverse range of walking trails, perfect for all abilities. Enjoy the countryside with a gentle stroll through wildflower meadows on the Cwmdu Orchid Walk.

Discover hidden treasures on the scenic route from Cwmdu to Talley Abbey, following the River Cothi, past ancient woodlands and historical ruins.

For Those With A Taste For Adventure: And a post-walk reward awaiting you at the end.

Brechfa Forest – This relatively undiscovered forest packed with stunning scenery and crystal-clear waters. Brechfa offers a range of enjoyable walks, from the 2km Riverside Walk, to the 21km Gorlech Trail. A pint and tasty menu then awaits you at The Black Lion, Abergorlech or the Forest Arms at Brechfa.

Laugharne with Dylan Thomas House – Idyllic scenery and estuary. This 4.5-km circular trail, is generally considered an easy route, popular for hiking, running and walking. There’s still chance to enjoy some solitude especially during quieter times of day. Finished off with a slice of bara brith or afternoon tea at Dylan Thomas Boat House or a hearty lunch at Browns. Whilst in there you might even like to visit the historic Laugharne Castle .

Pendine Beach to Wiseman’s Bridge – A moderately challenging 11.1 km trail offering stunning coastal scenery and bird watching opportunities. Enjoy a post-walk pint at the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn, a traditional pub with a welcoming atmosphere.

A Longer Journey: Explore Diverse Landscapes.

Millennium Coastal Path – Relatively flat 22.9km traffic – free route, leads along the Carmarthenshire Coast from Loughor to Pembrey. It offers wonderful views of the Lougher Estuary and the Llanrhidian Sands, and takes you through Llanelli Wetland Centre. Easy to navigate, as it is also part of the Wales Coast Path. Stop off at the Pemberton Arms at the Bury Port for some well deserved refreshment.

Up For A Longer Challenge:

Llanelli Circular – Combining sections of the Swiss Valley Trail and the Millennium Coastal Path this 27.4 km trail, takes in breathtaking views. Enjoy a sense of accomplishment after conquering this route with a refreshing break at the Millennium Coastal Park.

With The Explorer In Mind:

A rewarding hike to the serene Llyn y Fan Fach lake is one like no other! This moderately to challenging 15.1-km trail near Llanddeusant, takes you on a circular trek of Llyn y Fan Fawr and Llyn y Fan Fach. Amazing panoramic views and a chance to reconnect with nature. It won’t disappoint, it’s work everything minute.

After your hike, drive to the charming village of Defynnog, to discover The International Welsh Rarebit Centre. Sample a variety of mouthwatering rarebit creations in their café, or browse the selection of local cheeses and Welsh produce in their shop.

The Four Waterfalls Walk – Located near Ystradfellte, Powys, in South Wales. Just outside of Carmarthenshire but only just over an hour from the Cabin at Erwain Escapes. This famous trail boasts stunning scenery and access to the four waterfalls Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr, and Sgwd yr Eira, in the heart of Brecon Beacons National Park: A 4.5-mile walk, is a visit not to be missed.
