There’s a buzz about Cwmdu

There’s a buzz about Cwmdu

And we’re not just talking about the Cwmdu bees, although we will.

While we know many of our guests love to relax and enjoy the serene beauty of our stream listening to bird song or walking the hills, we understand some may seek more activities to partake in.

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Even though our much loved Cwmdu Beer Festival and Llandeilo Lit Fest have come and gone for another year, there are still plenty of exciting events happening in the area in the next couple of months that there’s something for everyone.

Cwmdu Community Big Lunch

Based on how successful our Jubilee celebration was last year, I have no doubt our Community Big Lunch, this coming weekend Saturday 6th May, in honour of the King’s Coronation is going to be fantastic. We’ll be sure to be serving up some coronation quiche as well I imagine! We’re even expecting a visit from BBC Wales!

Cwmdu Plant Swap and Boat Race

On the 28th and 29th of May we’ll be exchanging beautiful garden plants and racing boats down our giggling brook.

Walkway in the Botanic Gardens Carmarthenshire

Dawn Chorus

Whilst you have the joy of a dawn chorus every day in our stunning cabin why not expand and increase your understanding with the Botanic Garden’s of Wales’ Dawn Chorus walk.

Ho Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum

For something a little different get into some sea shanties with this 17 piece band, for a raucous May bank holiday experience.

British Birds of Prey Centre

Based also at the Botanical Gardens the centre hosts three amazing free-flying shows every day where you can watch Golden eagles, Red kites and Peregrine falcons flying within inches of you.

A great opportunity to to find out more about the different birds that live and holiday here in the UK and you can also have an up close and personal encounter with these majestic birds by booking an experience day.

Wildlife

This time of year is incredible for wildlife in Carmarthenshire.

Delicate cuckoo flowers swaying in the meadows and the hedge garlic blooming with full glory, and the sweet fragrance of wild garlic as carpets of white flowers precede the soon sea, deep blue of the bluebell.

The primroses, in their bright yellow hue, are a sight to behold, and the bees and damselflies are slowly venturing out into the world. I’ve even spotted some lovely buff bottomed bumblebees and the honey bees are starting to emerge too. It’s such a delightful sight!

For a truly spectacular bluebell experience in May then Castle Woods and Dinefwr Park in Llandeilo is incredible not forgetting the carpet along the meadow river bank here at Erwain Escapes.

All around us the life is bursting out and it’s invigorating.

Book now to enjoy these and other events and activities during 2023.
